Packaging Expensive Items for Relocation

Many things are to be considered while you are planning a move. The key thing is packing of expensive items for a move, which is the most time-consuming task during the relocation process. Before moving, you have to pack everything well and securely. If you have breakables things like glass, antique products, etc, each item will be carefully wrapped and placed into the carefully padded box.
The moving companies also provide packing services, but their service charges may increase your moving expenses significantly. You can save money on your upcoming relocation, by packing your valuable items by yourself and arranging only a safe, professional transportation. If you are not hiring movers, start well in advance of moving day and take the time to properly pack these items. Here are some tips to pack your valuable items. By choosing free boxes in the local vendors, you may save some money on your move. Use only strong and clean boxes in various sizes, ones that will suffer the move. All the needed protective materials, including roll of bubble wrap, cushion foam, peanuts, corrugated packing paper, markers, shipping tape, and scissors are supplied along with other packing materials.
While packing the most fragile items, choose a mid-sized, strong box lined with the thick layer of the packing paper on the bottom of box for cushioning, which prevent damages in case of a collision. Use small to medium boxes, with crumpled packing paper on the bottom and top, to pack plates. Put plates vertically in the boxes and wrap each plate in bubble wrap and secure with tape. Packing up valuable crystal, porcelain and other breakables requires some time. In general, wrap each individual item properly with enough layers of wrapping sheets, bubble wrap, or clothes. Place items inside a box with extreme care in the best position possible to avoid damages. Heavier items should be placed on the bottom and lighter items should be placed on the top inside the boxes.
Moving with home electronics can be hectic. TV screens can be easily scratched and damaged. If you cannot find the original box, you can buy a special TV box available in the market. When packing your TV for the move, enwrap it in two layers of foam to protect the screen from damage. Disconnect all cables, tie them with a cord and put them in a plastic bag.
In short, you need to buy suitable sized boxes for your valuable items. Enwrap them in a couple of layers of packing paper. And do not forget to layer the bottom of the box with crumpled paper and fill the empty space with paper or peanuts. After taping each box, label them ‘fragile and this side up’. Also write descriptive labels on boxes contain to make easy the unpacking process.

Insurance for Relocation

Moving and packing valuables is indeed a bit different from moving and packing ordinary household goods. That is why the extra knowledge here will be useful for you if you apply it. Insurance options are always a good idea to get a written appraisal on valuable things prior to moving them. The insurance helps establish actual value in the instance of loss or damage.
It is nice to give up all household goods to a shipping company and travel lightly. A reliable moving company helps coverage for items being moved, when getting ready to move your office or house, the thought of packing everything well and securely usually takes over your mind. The most moving companies provide a form, normally called a High Value Inventory Form, which is your opportunity to point out items of extraordinary value prior to the move to establish value in case of an incident.
The Complete Value Protection is one of the better valuation coverage offered by moving companies, but keep in mind they don’t all offer it. This valuation coverage will cover property that is damaged, lost or even completely destroyed. It will also pay for repairs and replacement of your property.
One thing to keep in mind though about this coverage is that there are usually minimum coverage amounts, and deductibles. So, while it sounds like a perfect world, there are catches to your moving company offering this type of valuation coverage. As good practice, think about your possessions and how to protect them best by taking care of the packing, buying insurance and handing them over to a professional relocation company.
